When I’m on a roll, grammar and diction can often put the brakes on passion and creativity. Yes, we def have unprecedented and free tools to polish the clay after we’ve created our forms. No need to nitpick stuff while in the zone.

There are exceptions: paragraph cohesion and concise sentences are two grammar goals that I push myself to keep in mind even with a draft. Editing can get really time consuming in those two areas.

Finally, I’m glad you mentioned focus! I found myself diving down rabbit holes yet finding no rewarding carrot. I had to realize I don’t want to be an ad analytics, list management, SEO, Javascript, or CSS Expert. My goal is to write, publish, then return to my life until I write again. Otherwise I’ll lose my energy and excitement for it.
