Thank you former President Obama for the kind eulogy to Justice Ginsberg and for the perspective on the structure and traditions which are so vital to the continuing survival and health of our republic.

#Populism is a threat to our institutions and even the #Constitution. Perhaps it was inevitable that a President would ruthlessly leverage social and mass media, the growing fears of globalization and the middle class standard of living, and increasingly polar factions in society, and use it all to game the system.

The result has been 4 years of the swamp getting deeper. Administrative branch appointees have been corrupt and/or incompetent and several were indicted. Administrative agencies (e.g. the CDC, the EPA, the FCC) have been neutered and their reputations debased. My father retired from the federal civil service, and I know the proud non-partisan and dedicated culture of GS employees in agencies. This president has damaged civil service culture at its core, making it a choice of either blind partisan loyalty or get fired, pushed aside, or defunded. I grew up in Washington, and I know many federal workers take pride providing a service for the American people.

Given this president’s sloppy oversight of the administrative branch, any further political manipulation of the Judicial branch, particularly its highest court, is intolerable.

In the coming weeks the administration must focus on the execution of free and fair voting throughout our country. a 2020 election free from foreign or domestic interference is the only positive legacy this President can realistically achieve, he should get to it!
